The Man Behind Peter Pan
- Creation: The character of Peter Pan first appeared in Barrie's 1902 novel The Little White Bird. It was fully realized in the 1904 stage play, Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, and later in the 1911 novel Peter and Wendy.
- Inspiration: Barrie's whimsical stories were heavily influenced by his close friendship with the Llewelyn Davies family. Following the tragic deaths of the boys' parents, Barrie became their legal guardian.
- The Peter Pan Gift: Upon his death in 1937, Barrie bequeathed the copyright and royalties for Peter Pan to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. The hospital has benefited significantly from this gift for decades.
